Core Update

Updated Shuttermade’s core to allow google authentication, this will allow me to add new parameters on the fly, especially looking forward to one to distinguish between paid/free accounts.

The new core now authenticates with Google instead of just streaming the information, allowing me to use the data stored on Google’s end effortlessly.

Next step is to improve the front end of Shuttermade with the promised features. A biography page, multiple galleries, and editing capability. And offer these extra services to users who are willing to pay a small amount for them.

Note:

Shuttermade will always have a very useful free version. Yet I will need to provide a paid version simultaneous to the free version to support the running costs. I hope this makes sense.

Yes you need a flickr first! Also you will need a Shuttermade as well. It is possible to use Shuttermade on your own domain with an iFrame (click here).

We are cached.

Shuttermade now serves over 64,000 of your visitors per month! And that was a heavy load on the server. Well not anymore because Shuttermade is now cached.

That means all pages are put together once and only once then served to your audience ∞ times. What does that mean to you? Well, faster pages for one! But more importantly what does it mean to the server, well it has far less work to do, and it can take a break for awhile.

Monitoring the uptime

The past month I paid for two separate hosting plans on two different companies just to monitor them and compare their performance.

Host A: the one I used during the duration.

Host B: which I just monitored.

as you can clearly see, Host B outperformed A by a very impressive margin even though their hosting costs are half the price of Host A. Thats good news for Shuttermade since it doesn’t have to pay twice as much for half the service. In all honesty though the people at hosting A, were much friendlier and knowledgeable in responding to problems.

So as of yesterday the hosting switched again, with zero downtime on service :) If anyone knows of hosting plans that outperform even these results please care to share!

Guys it should be all fixed now, some IP’s were blocked on the firewall and would cause the forever loading page. If any of you have trouble using Shuttermade don’t hesitate to tell me!
